What does Basium mean?

Basium is a Latin word that means “the kiss.” To us, it means purity, intimacy, and connection. We believe that everything we put on our bodies should feel this way: soft, natural, and sincere. That’s why our products are free from synthetics and crafted to honour the skin: with care and intention. 

What is Basium's philosophy?

We’re on a mission to make scent an intentional part of everyday life by transforming everyday rituals into moments of reconnection, with respect to the earth.

Where is Basium based?

Basium is headquartered in New York and produced in Europe, with warehouses in Germany and the US, selling worldwide.

Our Products

Are your products organic?

We prioritize using certified organic oils whenever possible. However, due to factors like seasonal availability, small-batch sourcing, and sustainability concerns, not every ingredient we use is certified organic. In some cases, we choose wild-harvested or ethically grown alternatives that meet our high standards for quality, purity, and environmental responsibility. 

Are your products fully natural?

Yes, we use 100% natural ingredients, including essential oils, absolutes and cold pressed carrier oils. 

Are your products vegan?

All our products are vegan, except the beeswax candles for our Stone Diffuser.

What is the expiration date of your products?

Our oils are preservative-free and have a natural shelf life of 2 years.

How long do your perfumes last on the skin?

You can expect them to last between 4 to 6 hours, depending on your skin type, the specific blend, and how it's applied. Natural scents evolve beautifully over time and tend to sit closer to the skin, offering a more intimate, personal experience.

How can I make the scent last longer?

We recommend applying the oil to a well-moisturised skin for a longer lasting scent.  For example, layering with a base oil really helps. The Ayurvedic Body Oil works beautifully as a foundation for the Flora Oil and enhances both absorption and how long the scent lasts.

Are your products tested on animals?

No, never.

My perfume smells slightly different than the one I had before. Why is this?

Each year, we craft several batches of our perfumes using hand-selected natural ingredients. Since essential oils naturally vary from harvest to harvest, the fragrance may subtly differ between batches, an intentional reflection of nature’s ever-changing character.

Is it safe to use your fragrances during pregnancy or postpartum?

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, it is best to avoid products containing essential oils. Please consult with your doctor beforehand or contact us at hello@basium.wordl if you need any specific recommendations.

Where are your products made?

The country of origin of our raw ingredients varies depending on the type of plant. We are committed to sourcing most of our ingredients in Europe, close to home but sometimes we can only source ingredients in the country where the plant is native. All products are then manufactured and packed in Europe.

Is your packaging sustainable?

Yes. Sustainability is at the heart of our packaging choices. We use recycled FSC paper and our labels and printed materials are produced using soy-based inks, which are a renewable, non-toxic alternative to petroleum-based inks.

Is your packaging recyclable?

Yes, we use recycled and recyclable materials wherever possible to ensure minimal environmental impact.

We use materials such as glass for our bottles, aluminum and polypropylene for our lids, and FSC-certified recycled paper for all printed materials like boxes and postcards - all carefully chosen for their recyclability and lower environmental footprint.

Orders

How can I check the status of my order?

You will receive a confirmation email as soon as your order is placed. After this, we will notify you when the product has been shipped from our warehouse and you will receive an email with the tracking information.

Can I update or cancel my order?

Please reach out to us immediately at hello@basium.world if you would like to edit or cancel your order, and we will do our best to accommodate your request.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept all major payment methods including VISA, Mastercard, PayPal, ShopPay, and more. We also accept Giftcards that you can purchase directly from our website.

Shipping & Returns

Where do you ship to?

We ship to most all countries worldwide. If you don’t see Basium available in your country, please get in touch with us at hello@basium.world and we will try to accommodate your order.

Where do you ship from?

All international orders will be shipped from our warehouse in Germany, except from US & Canadian orders which will be fulfilled from our US warehouse.

When will I receive my tracking information?

After your order is placed with us and dispatched from our warehouse, you will receive an email with tracking information on your products. This typically occurs within 1-3 business days.

How long does the shipping take?

After your products have been sent from our warehouse, shipping will typically take 2 to 4 business days, depending on your location.

Do you cover import duties, taxes, or customs fees?

Please note that any import duties, customs fees or local taxes are the customer’s responsibility. These are set by your country’s authorities and are separate from our product and shipping prices.

What can I do if my product gets damaged in transit?

If your product has been damaged during transit, Basium will provide you with a replacement or a refund. Please reach out to hello@basium.world sharing the details of your order along with an image of the damaged goods.

Do you accept returns?

We accept returns on items that are faulty only.
